Penobscot Community Health Care (PCHC) is a non-profit organization governed by a board of community volunteers, incorported in 1997. PCHC is driven by our mission -- to provide access, regardless of ability to pay, for people of the Bangor region to quality community health care services, and to promote access for all in Maine. Our vision is that health care is a right, not a privilege. We believe in integrated, comprehensive, evidence-based health care serving the whole person and family.
Although only 10 years old, PCHC is the largest FQHC in Maine, one of the largest in New England and probably the largest non-hospital primary care practice in Maine. In 2006, our 130 full and part time practitioners will provide about 140,000 patient visits for about 35,000 people. In 2007, we provided 200,000 health care visits for over 45,000 people - half the population of the greater Bangor area.
PCHC is a family of clinics and services:
The heart of our organization is our Health Care Campus on Union Street in Bangor. The main campus houses Family Medicine, Specialists, Pediatric, Dental, Psychiatric Services, Pharmacy and Laboratory Services.
Integrated health care services are available at Old Town Family Practice, a well-established practice that has been serving people in that region for more than 20 years, and Stillwater Family Medicine, formerly known at Independent Medical Associates located on Stillwater Avenue in Bangor.
PCHC Community Clinics provide on-site integrated health care to homeless or those at risk of homelessness at multiple clinics strategically located in Bangor.
The Miles For Smiles mobile dental clinic has provided dental services to low-income children in rural Maine communities since Fall 2003.
Unique to PCHC is the provision of on-site Pharmacy, Laboratory and X-Ray services in a timely, convenient and cost-effective manner.
Rehabilitation services are now available, with clinics in Hampden, Bangor, Corinth and Old Town. The addition of these physical therapy and balance centers will allow our patients to receive a wide range of treatment for orthopedic, neurologic, pre and post-surgery issues and much more.
We welcome you. Please browse our web site to learn more about who we are, the services we provide and upcoming events.
